Jo Ann North has served as Davidson County
Property Assessor since 1992, winning reelection to another four year term
in the August 2004 General Election.
A native of Marshall, TX, Jo Ann came to
Nashville to attend David Lipscomb University, where she met Ira Stephen
(Steve) North. The couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in
August 2002.
Jo Ann interrupted her college education to
rear three sons, but later graduated from Tennessee State University.
In 1976, she was elected as a delegate to
the Tennessee Constitutional Convention. And, prior to becoming Property Assessor, she
was elected to three four-year terms as an at-large member of the
Metropolitan County Council.
She has won numerous honors for her civic
and charitable work, has been selected "Assessor of the Year" on multiple
occasions by the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers.
Husband Steve is a former Davidson County Circuit
Court Judge, who now practices law in Madison. His offices are located
in the former home of Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley's long-time
manager. |
